The Bereavement Journey Course

Working through grief and the loss of a loved one takes a long time. The course is for anyone who has been bereaved, whether recently or dating back several years.

Topics covered include:

  • Attachment, separation and loss

  • How we cope with death in our culture

  • The pain of grief

  • Adjusting to change

  • The faith perspective (optional)

The next course begins on Monday 12th January 2026, from 7-9pm. It will be held at St John's Church, Burley in the church hall.

The Bereavement Journey Course consists of seven weekly sessions. During each session we watch a short video presentation and then share in discussion on the topic for the session. While many participants welcome the opportunity to share their experiences, some prefer to sit and listen: that is fine as there is no requirement to say anything in the sessions. I am the course host and leader and have many years experience in my practice both as a counsellor and as a specialist in bereavement counselling. I ask no charge for the course, but a voluntary donation of £10 is welcome to help cover the costs of the guest manuals which I bulk purchase and for the refreshments I make, usually hot drinks and cakes.
